Australian Cotton Exports To China Have An Increasing Trend

Judging from Australia’s cotton exports to China over the past three years, China’s share in Australia’s cotton exports is very small. In the second half of 2022, the export of Australian cotton to China increased. Although still small, and the proportion of exports per month is still at most below 10%, it does indicate that Australian cotton is being shipped to China.

Analysts believe that although China’s demand for Australian cotton is expected to increase, it is unlikely to return to the peak of the previous 10 years or so, mainly due to the expansion of spinning business outside China, especially in Vietnam and the Indian subcontinent. So far, the majority of Australia’s 5.5 million bales of cotton production this year has been shipped, with only about 2.5% shipped to China.
