Swedish Clothing Trade Sales Rose In February

The latest index from the Swedish Federation of Commerce and Trade (Svensk Handel) shows that Swedish clothing retailers’ sales in February increased by 6.1% compared to the same month last year, and footwear trade increased by 0.7% at current prices. Sofia Larsen, CEO of the Swedish Federation of Commerce and Trade, said that the increase in sales may be a frustrating trend, and this trend may continue. The fashion industry is facing pressure from various aspects. The increase in the cost of living has weakened customers’ spending power, while rents in many stores have increased by more than 11% since the beginning of the year, which raises serious concerns that many stores and jobs will disappear.
