Brazilian Cotton On The One Hand, The Harvest Is Progressing Smoothly, And On The Other Hand, Progress Is Slow

According to the latest data from Conab’s weekly bulletin, the cotton harvest in Brazil shows significant differences between different regions. Harvesting work is underway in the main production center of Mato Grosso Oblast. It is worth noting that the average yield of the plume exceeds 40% of the total volume, and the productivity remains consistent. In terms of management procedures, farmers’ focus is on destroying tree stumps and preventing cotton boll beetles, which can damage crop productivity.

Moving to western Bahia, producers are conducting comprehensive harvesting activities, and so far, in addition to high-quality fibers, good productivity has been observed. In the central southern part of the state, the harvest has ended.

In the southern state of Mato Grosso, the harvest is approaching its final stage. There are still some pending plots in the northern region, but the characteristics of the activities are managing the roots, transporting cotton bales to cotton mills, and subsequent lint processing.

In the state of Maranion, the situation is worth being vigilant. The harvesting of crops in the first and second seasons is ongoing, but the productivity is lower than the previous season.

In Goas State, reality poses challenges in specific regions, especially in the far south and west. Despite some delays in harvesting, the quality of cotton harvested so far remains high.

Minas Gerais presented a hopeful scene. Farmers are completing harvesting, and indicators indicate that in addition to high-quality fibers, productivity is also very outstanding. The cotton harvesting work in S ã o Paulo has been completed.

Considering the largest cotton producing country in Brazil, the average harvest rate for the same period in the previous season was 96.8%. We observed that the index was 78.4% the previous week and rose to 87.2% on September 3rd. Despite a significant advance between one week and the next, the progress is still lower than the previous harvest.

86.0% of the cotton areas in Maranion Oblast harvested earlier, with faster progress, 7% earlier than the previous season (79.0% of the cotton areas have already harvested).

The state of Bahia has shown interesting evolution. Last week, the harvest area was 75.4%, and the index slightly increased to 79.4% on September 3rd. Still lower than the speed of the last harvest.

Mato Grosso State is a large producer in the country, with a revenue of 98.9% in the previous quarter. The previous week, the index was 78.2%, but there was a significant increase, reaching 88.5% on September 3rd.

South Mato Grosso Oblast, which increased from 93.0% in the previous week to 98.0% on September 3rd.
