Li Yuzhong pointed out that this year marks the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus. Over the past 31 years, China and Belarus have maintained fruitful cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, culture and other fields. They have reached broad consensus and achieved fruitful results in expanding bilateral exchanges, implementing the “the Belt and Road” initiative, building international industrial parks, scientific and technological information cooperation and other fields. China and Belarus established an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership on September 15, 2022, achieving a historic leap in their relationship and becoming a model of new international relations. The unbreakable friendship between China and Belarus, with good momentum and huge potential for economic and trade cooperation, has also laid a solid foundation for cooperation in the leather industry between the two sides. The Chinese leather industry will continue to uphold the concepts of peace, development, cooperation, and win-win, and build a new pattern for the development of the Chinese white leather industry. The China Leather Association is willing to trust each other and work together with colleagues in the Belarusian leather industry to carry out cooperation in various fields, and to stand by and help each other in the complex international environment. Together, we will welcome and respond to the opportunities and challenges brought by the development of the times, injecting new impetus into the cooperation and development of the two countries’ industries.
At the same time, considering the importance of international cooperation and experience exchange in the Chinese white leather industry, in order to promote the harmonious development and growth of commercial activities between industry enterprises in the two countries, and to support the common interests of both industry enterprises in their business activities, while adhering to the principles of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, The China Leather Association and the Belarusian National Light Industry Konzern have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the China Leather Association and the Belarusian National Light Industry Konzern. The Memorandum establishes the framework conditions to be followed by both parties in organizing joint projects, promoting trade, investment, and innovation activities, supporting industry enterprises, and promoting Belarusian products for cooperation. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in promoting bilateral trade, investment, and jointly organizing events. Both China and Belarus stated that they will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future, deepen friendship between the two countries, and strive to turn the contents of the memorandum into reality, promote leather trade between China and Belarus, and promote the development of the leather industry in both countries.
It is reported that Belarusian leather manufacturing enterprises under Kanzen mainly produce cow leather, horse leather, and pig leather. The leather produced in Belarus can meet the needs of domestic leather product production enterprises, and exports over 4 million US dollars of products to China every year; 90% of the footwear produced in Belarus is leather shoes, with nearly 3000 varieties. Konzen produces over 5 million pairs of shoes annually, accounting for 40% of the country’s total. In addition, it also produces products such as handbags, backpacks, and small leather items.
